The launch Hola Baby

pic019

One of her main goals with the launch Hola Baby is to create a brand for the Children’s Clothing Latino community. “Baby Phat is a brand that people identify with the urban culture, but it is not a brand that people identify with Latino culture. It would be cool if Hola Baby came to be the brand that represents Latinos, at least with children,” Whitted says.

So who is she hopes will be sporting her T-shirts? “Hopefully Salma Hayek’s daughter and Ricky Martin are twins,” she says with a laugh. “Actually, I see my customers kind of being who I am, a second-generation Latina who wants to continue the culture and raise their children Bilingually. It is not easy when your parents and grandparents do not live near you. So to have a T-shirt is an extra little ways to keep your Latino culture in your daily life. I see my clients are Latinos, but also mothers and fathers who are interested in the world and introduce their children to new cultures. ”

Right now there are 11 patterns are available: four girls, four boys and three small children. The T-shirts were printed by the contagious Graphics here in Charlotte and can only be found on the website.

Children clothing becomes cultural by Hola Baby

pic018

For many people,Children’s Clothing is not only shreds of cloth to drape over your body to protect you from the weather and cover up the essentials. No, the clothes you wear make statements of “I only got three hours sleep and I do not give a shit” (baggy sweat pants, inside-out T-shirt and a hoodie, maybe true) to “I’m sure and everyone wants me “(a tight, maybe a little revealing, dress). Then you have T-shirts to send presidential candidate you supported, or your favorite band.
But when you have clothes ever made a statement about your culture? Enter Hola Baby, a locally owned small business recently started by former TV3 TV reporter Julie Aguirre Whitted, who sells sweet Spanish T-shirts for children. Each T-shirt, designed by Whitted and a family member, sporting nice term for a child in Spanish. Talk about literally make a statement in your culture.
“There are so many sweet words that you call the children, in English and in Spanish,” says Whitted, who spends most days at home with their children, except for a part-time gig at WFAE. “In English, you say” pumpkin “,” sweetie “,” baby. “Girl” things. It is the same in Spanish. “Mija,” which means “my daughter” … everyone will call you “mija,” from your grandmother to the waitress. It kind of means honey. “There’s” Mijo, “which means” my son. “There are just so many cute phrases that reference children. I tried to capture any funny words in Spanish and use them on T-shirts. I wanted it to be a funny picture of our Latino culture and transfer it on T-shirts and fashion and style. “

Social Media: Adopt a trial and error approachEarlier

National B2B Centre’s Group on LinkedIn. The  Children’s Clothing National B2B Centre has helped me a lot this year with regard to e-marketing, – they have provided input and ideas when I needed it most.

In their newsletter they mention that Seth Godin (master marketer and thinker in the online world) has just writtent a blog in which he defines “The hierarchy of success”:

1.Attitude
2.Approach
3.Goals
4.Strategy
5.Tactics
6.Execution
The gist of the post is that most of us focus on points 3 – 6 but that success has more to do with number 1 and number 2, attitude and approach.

In their newsletter the National B2B Centre goes on to saying: “Our experience is that the most successful companies are definitely strong on those two characteristics.  Those of you who attended our eBusiness Conference 2009 may have heard Malene Stanley from KSBKids and Nick Blenkarn from Severn Partnership relating how they have used a variety of tools and technologies to achieve success. What have set them apart from other people that we have worked with is their willingness to try things out, to explore, to recognise when something needs to change, to be ahead of the game”.

Personally, I often feel I know very little about the whole e-commerce, social media business, but I have come to accept that the feeling of always being a little behind is part of the game. As much as I think it is crucial to have a strategy when venturing into social media, I also think one has to adopt a trial and error approach.   Most of what I do is work in progress, – learning as I go. At times even my mistakes can be rewarding. One thing is for sure avoiding experimenting with the social web is a greater risk than experimenting with it and failing!

Newborn baby clothes Essentials

pic0119

Choosing newborn baby clothes is a wonderful moment when you are expecting a new baby. In designing our new collection of organic baby clothes, I had four “must-haves” on my list.
These were what I, as a mother, could not do without for the first few weeks.

ROMPERS – To facilitate the dress nothing beats a rompersuit! Arabella Miller has knee ROMPERS (envelope) shoulders for easy dressing and are available in two cool organic prints. Inside leg poppers means you can dress the baby quickly and they are FOOTLESS, the last that bit longer than babygros with their feet.

Baby Hats – Even if your child arrives with full hair (!) Every newborn baby needs a baby hat to keep her little to be heat. I designed a hassle-free beanie style that looks pretty both baby boys and girls.

Nightdresses – A baby sleepgown is important for the first few months, keep baby cozy and warm, but it’s easy access to Nightime diaper changes. I have found my nightgown so useful that I designed the Arabella Miller sleepgowns be a bit longer at between 6-9 months. Nothing beats eczema-friendly soft organic cotton next to your baby’s sensitive skin.

Blankets – Truly versatile – for both the early months and beyond. I designed an extra-large organic cotton baby blanket so you can use it at night, a baby carriage Cart blanket, or during the day as a play mat. Arabella Miller organic cotton baby blankets are an affordable luxury purchase – a double layer of organic cotton in two stylish prints with contrasting trim. My baby blankets can be washed over and over again and then delivered still looking hip and soft feel.

Baby Boys Clothes

pic0118

Before I launched Arabella Miller I spent time asking other mums what they liked/disliked about baby boutiques.

Mums with boys told me they had a real problem finding designer baby clothing which had boys baby clothes that they would actually like their baby to wear!

Common comments were concerned with dull colours, motifs that were either too babyish or too grown up!

So when I started to design infant boy clothing, I decided to take the cue from our most popular t-shirt print Close Encounters and adapt it to make some cute baby clothes especially for baby boys. ry about what will or will not

OnLocation: StyleFilesBy Naomi Greenaway

Rails loaded with designer clothes are wheeled out in front of me by two very helpful assistants, while another adds more glittering dresses, embellished knits and cashmere coats to the election.

“What about the Fendi scarf? It would go perfectly with Dior gown,” one of them suggests. She has a black sequined mini-dress: “It’s fantastic, but we’ll see how the color works – that the  Children’s Clothing skin is begging for pink and purple.”

But unfortunately it is not my skin they’re talking about – and none of these luxurious coats and dresses for me. In fact, I would not even fit into them. They are all for my one-year-old daughter Mia.

Among the mega-expensive mummy set, if you want your children see so exquisite in her arms as your Birkin handbag, a personal shopper has become must-have accessory. At Harvey Nichols, where I have come for Mia’s first personal shopping experience, “says stylist to me:” It’s essentially high-powered professional women who do not have time to do it ourselves. ” Down the road at Harrods, “she said, The audience is more” Ladies Who Lunch “. And it’s not just in London. At Harvey Nichols in Edinburgh, told a stylist myself to the personal shopping department sees “little” customers almost every other day.

A kindergarten lesson in fashion or disgusting consumption? Make your own opinion about it. “Even when they are as young as three, they often have a strong opinion about his style – especially girls,” one of the Harvey Nichols personal shopper says cheerfully. “And the mums, we often end up spending more on their children than on themselves. The clothes are just so irresistible.”
